Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Overview
Unscatter ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it when you use the Unscatter app.
The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never read your task or reward content, and you can turn off all analytics at any time in Settings.
Data you create in the app
Tasks, rewards, focus sessions, daily check-ins, mood selections, and preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data does not leave your device and is never sent to our servers.
Analytics
What we collect
We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use the app and where we can improve it. Analytics are identified only by a randomly generated UUID that is created on your device — it is never linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.
The types of events we track include:
- App interactions: check-in completed, mood selected, tutorial steps viewed
- Feature usage: focus sessions started/completed, tasks created, rewards added
- Navigation: screens visited, settings changed, paywall viewed
- General engagement: onboarding progress, session patterns
What we never collect
We explicitly do not capture the content of your tasks, the names of your rewards, or any other text you type into the app. Event data contains only structural signals (e.g. "task created", "quadrant: do") — never the content itself.
Opting out
You can disable analytics at any time by going to Settings → Privacy → Help improve Unscatter and toggling it off. When disabled, no events are sent from your device. Your preference is stored locally and respected immediately.
Data processor
Analytics data is processed by PostHog, Inc. and stored on PostHog's US Cloud infrastructure. See PostHog's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.
Purchase information
If you purchase a Premium subscription, we use RevenueCat to process and verify your purchase. RevenueCat may collect your Apple ID, transaction identifiers, and subscription status. We do not receive your payment details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, we use Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs) to send reminders. We do not use your device token for any purpose other than delivering notifications you have requested. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
Data we never collect
- Your name, email address, or any contact information (unless you contact support)
- The text content of your tasks or reward names
- Location data
- Data from your contacts, camera, or microphone
- Data about other apps on your device
Data retention
Your task and app data lives on your device. If you delete the app, that data is removed. We do not retain any server-side copies of your personal or task data.
Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog for up to 12 months. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat in accordance with their policies and applicable law.
Children
Unscatter is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
